2027 Scholarship Information

With the emergence of AI, we feel it’s appropriate to state our position moving forward.

Thank you to those who wrote their own content in the application, as we’ve shared how impactful your authentic thoughts, feelings and perspectives are to us.

We want to know the REAL YOU.  It’s the reason why we do this.  Your hearts and minds are powerful, and you’re perfectly capable of expressing what’s inside.

AI absolutely serves a purpose.  We have no issue with students using the tools that technology offers for improving the quality of an application’s spelling, punctuation and sentence structure.

With that said, we intend to keep the human element of our process intact.  We have no interest in reading applications created by robots.  If you’re willing to take the time to craft your own content, we look forward to seeing your application in the future.  The next deadline is Monday, March 1, 2027.

Google Chrome is the recommended web browser for AwardSpring.  Visit our Scholarship Application Tips page for helpful hints!  Please email info@lauzier.org or call 509.754.3209 if you have any questions.

In order to be eligible for the Paul Lauzier Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Grant County, WA high school graduating senior or alumni;
  • reside in Grant County for a minimum of two (2) years prior to high school graduation*;
  • maintain the required minimum CUMULATIVE GPA of 2.75;
  • attend a college, vocational, or technical school within the state of Washington.**

*DOUGLAS, ADAMS, AND LINCOLN COUNTY RESIDENTS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO APPLY.

**Western Governors University qualifies because it has a location within the state of Washington.

Students who don’t meet the above requirements will not be considered.

APPLICATION DETAILS

TRANSCRIPTS:  Seniors– Students must submit a current official transcript, which includes grades from the first semester of the current school year.  Running Start students should provide a transcript from their high school, which includes all grades from the college through the fall quarter of senior year.

Alumni— Students must submit the most current OFFICIAL transcript available, which must include first-term grades for the current school year if you’re an attending student.  Additional details regarding transcripts can be found on the application.

Applicants may begin working on the application, but should wait until grades from the first term of the current school year are available before obtaining an official transcript.  Outdated transcripts will disqualify an application.

ESSAY:  This is a critical part of the selection process.  A poorly written essay will quickly eliminate an application from consideration.  Ask for help with proofreading before submitting.  Additional details can be found on the application.

RECOMMENDATION:  The application requires one (1) recommendation letter.  The application will generate an email request to the recommender.  You will not be able to submit your application until the recommendation is complete.  Log back in to submit the application once you receive confirmation that the recommendation has been completed.  Be certain to check the email address of the recommender, and follow up to ensure that the request was received.  If you choose to have an employer provide a recommendation, then it must come from a supervisor or a boss.  Co-workers and colleagues are not considered legitimate sources for a recommendation.

Applicants will be notified in May/June via email.  Selected recipients will receive directions on how to submit required follow-up information needed for disbursement.  Scholarship funds will then be sent directly to the academic institution in July.  Disbursement can only take place if the required follow-up information has been submitted by the recipient.

Recipients shall be selected on an objective and nondiscriminatory basis without regard to race, creed, religion, color, sex, age or national origin. Academic performance, recommendations from committee members, demonstrated ability, need, aptitude and promise of successful citizenship will be considered. It is my desire that traits of industry and integrity be considered; and that while exceptional intellectual ability and high grade averages should be considered, they should not be controlling.
